Where are you located?
Tavern Tax will be scheduling evenings in your local taverns over the next few
months. Hours typically are between 7pm and 11pm. Please check the calendar page
for locations and times.
I do not feel comfortable bringing my information to my local tavern. Can you
still provide me with services?
All the documentation necessary to complete your return can be sent ahead of
time to our office. You can also schedule a time at one of our locations to pick
up your return. We will only need a few minutes of your time to review your
return and answer any questions you have. If you are interested in more
traditional tax preparation methods, that is no problem. We can do everything
through the mail, an office visit or an appointment at your destination of
choice.
How long will my return take?
A typical simple return will take about 40 minutes to complete if you just come
in with your tax information. If you send your information ahead of time, that
time can be significantly reduced. Now returns that are more complicated than
your basic federal and state filing could take substantially longer. If we can
not complete your return, no worries we will finish it in the office and get to
you within a few days.
How much will an income tax return cost me?
Our services typically are at least a 30% - 40% savings off the BIG TWO pricing. Our services will run between $80 and $120 for a typical 1040 for federal and one state. Example pricing: For a single person who lives in NJ and works in NY, you need to file a Federal 1040, a New Jersey 1040, and a Non-Resident IT-203. These three returns will cost approx $150.
Can I get an exact quote on how much my returns will cost?
Absolutely, you will have to supply us with some detail as to your activity
during the year, your assets and filing status. This can all be done through
email, fax or a phone call.
Do you have to be a CPA to prepare income tax returns and why should I choose
a CPA?
No, you do not have to be a CPA to prepare income tax returns. In actuality,
majority of income tax preparers, especially those at the BIG TWO are not CPA’s
at all. Choosing a CPA is the correct choice because they are specially trained
to provide such services, they are licensed by a state board of accountancy and
they must adhere to strict continuing education requirements. CPA’s , Enrolled
Agents and lawyers are the only professionals allowed to argue on your behalf in
tax court if they need to defend a tax position you have taken.
A friend of mine told about this guy who gets everyone really large refunds
every year. Why should I not go to him?
Income tax preparers who fraudulently file tax returns put their clients at risk
for prosecution. Typically all returns filed by the same preparer are examined
by an IRS computer and when similarities for odd things are shown, the IRS can
and will pull all the associated returns for further review. The United States
Tax Code is a law, mind you a very complicated one. Tavern Tax will maximize
your opportunities to utilize credits and deductions to minimize your tax
liability.
Why is Tavern Tax offering there services in a venue such as a bar?
We are looking for innovative ways to expand our current client base while
providing a service at great value. Not to mention just to make it a little more
fun for you and your friends.
What do I need to bring with me or supply to Tavern Tax to complete my
returns?
All documents you need to supply are listed in the tax planner, which is
available for download on the “Forms” page in two versions. Typically most
clients can use the short form. The long form is utilized by individuals who
have complicated tax topics that need to be addressed. You will definitely need
to supply a copy of your prior year’s tax return as noted in the planner. As
noted, all these documents can be supplied ahead of time to us for more
efficient use of your time at one of our tavern evenings.
I own a bar and would like to have one of your CPAs come in and offer your
services to my customers on a particular evening. How much does it cost and how
do I do it?
Well your in luck, it costs you absolutely nothing other than space. We can even
supply our own table and chairs if necessary. The only thing we will need is
access to a power outlet. You can contact us right through the website to get a
spot for your establishment on calendar.
I am not a bar can I have you bring your services on site to my establishment
as a service to my customers?
We will consider all venues for our services , please contact us to discuss the
options available.
